Man Utd transfer guru ‘flies to Naples for talks over shock Hojlund swap’

A MANCHESTER UNITED executive reportedly flew to Naples earlier this week to discuss a potential swap deal including Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils endured a disastrous 2024-25 season both in the Premier League and in Europe.

They finished the campaign 15th in the Prem table with just 42 points.

United also suffered a 1-0 loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final last week, meaning they will miss out on European football next term.

Club officials are now looking to offload some of the players who failed to match expectations throughout the season.

And it is believed that Hojlund is at risk of the axe.

The 22-year-old has scored just 10 goals in 52 appearances this season.

Head coach Ruben Amorim has been left disappointed as a result and therefore could sanction his exit.

Italian outlet Il Napolista has claimed that Hojlund could be used as part as a swap deal for Victor Osimhen.

Man Utd transfer chief Matt Hargreaves allegedly flew to Naples recently to speak to Napoli executives about a potential move.

The Serie A champions are understood to be keen on the prospect of signing Hojlund.

And they would be willing to part ways with Osimhen, who has spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Galatasaray.

However, should United push to sign the striker, they would likely have to part ways with Hojlund plus an extra £33.7million.

Hojlund joined the Red Devils in a £72million transfer from Atalanta two years ago, but his value has plummeted since then due to his underwhelming form.

Should he join Napoli, he will link up with former United favourite Scott McTominay, who has nicely settled into life in Naples since leaving Old Trafford last summer.

Meanwhile, United would be getting a striker who scored 36 goals and provided eight assists in 40 appearances this season in Osimhen.

The Red Devils have held an interest in the Nigeria international for the last three years.
