Man Utd transfer round-up: Pogba ‘seduced’ by PSG as United lead Camavinga race

Manchester United are stepping up their work in the summer transfer window now the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund is finally agreed.

United have put a lot of time and effort into securing the Dortmund winger, but with a £73million transfer just a medical away, they can turn their attention to other targets.

A central defender to partner Harry Maguire next season remains a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, although the club is also trying to strengthen other positions.

One of the areas United are keen to recruit for is central midfield and today’s rumours feature plenty of movement there.

Transfer windows are not just about incomings, though, and there is speculation once again that Paul Pogba could move on this summer.

With that in mind, here is Friday’s Manchester United transfer round-up.

Pogba being ‘seduced’ by PSG

Back in December, Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola was telling anyone who would listen how unhappy his client was.

That stance has softened over the last six months, with Pogba playing an important role for Solskjaer’s side before impressing for France at Euro 2020.

However, rumours over his future at Old Trafford are back today, with L’Equipe reporting that the midfielder is being 'seduced by the idea of playing in Paris'.

Pogba has just 12 months remaining on his United contract and the report says Paris Saint-Germain are not put off by the fact it would take around £43m to £51m (€50m-€60m) to seal his signature.

PSG have already made a splash this summer, signing Gini Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi and Sergio Ramos, with Gianluigi Donnarumma set to follow them in the coming days.

United ‘frontrunners’ in Camavinga race

United have been strongly linked with Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga over the past few weeks and they are now reportedly ‘frontrunners’ for his signature.

The 18-year-old central midfielder is one of the players Solskjaer is looking into as he tries to strengthen in the middle of the pitch.

Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid have all been credited with interest in the French teenager, but transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano makes United favourites to sign Camavinga, who would cost between £25 and £30m because he has one year left on his deal.

“At the moment, Manchester United are the frontrunners in the Eduardo Camavinga race,” Romano said on  The Here We Go Podcast .

“They want to make money, they want to make profit with Camavinga and that’s why there’s chances for Manchester United to sign the player this summer.

“They want Camavinga this summer. They think he’s a perfect long-term signing, ready-made to be part of the team.”

Goretzka happy at Bayern Munich

One central midfielder who is unlikely to be joining United this summer is Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka.

The German international has been attracting interest from United as a potential replacement for Pogba, but new Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann wants to keep him.

"Leon is an important player for us. I would be happy to work with him for many years," he said.

"I think very highly of him. He is one of the most dangerous midfielders in the world. Everyone likes to have him in their team."

The Daily Mail  says that stance is reciprocated by Goretzka, who would not be tempted by an increased wage package at United, Real Madrid or Juventus.
