RUBEN AMORIM has confirmed a trio of Manchester United stars will be absent for the Manchester derby clash on Sunday.

Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot will all be unavailable for the match due to injury issues.

The blow could not have come at a worse time for the Portuguese boss as his side look to start their season afresh after the international break.

All three players started in United's 3-2 victory over Burnley before the international break

Amorim will now have to look to the bench to find solutions for the absences.

One player who could benefit is Benjamin Sesko, the £74million Slovenian brought in towards the end of the summer window.

He is yet to start a Premier League game this season, with Cunha typically being deployed as the central striker in Amorim's system, flanked by Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount.

If there was ever a stage to prove you belong in the Prem, it would be during a Manchester derby against Pep, and opposite fellow goalscoring big man Erling Haaland.

Amorim also confirmed that stopper Altay Bayindir will retain his starting position in goal despite the arrival of Belgian keeper Senne Lammens.

Lammens' arrival allowed for the departure of keeper Andre Onana, who joined Trabzonspor on Thursday.

But the 23-year-old will have to wait for his debut, as Bayindir is given the go ahead in net for the derby.

Amorim will hope that the Turkish keeper has grown in confidence since his calamitous showing against Arsenal on opening weekend.
