With tensions running high at Old Trafford, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho's job isn't looking particularly secure.
The main target to replace him as manager next summer is Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, but they will have to pay up to £40million for his services, according to The Sun.
The Argentine has done a good job at Tottenham, as they currently sit third in the Premier League table. Meanwhile, Manchester United are languishing in eighth.
If United's poor form continues and they don't qualify for the Champions League, it will actually be cheaper for the club to sack Mourinho due to a clause in his contract.
In May, Pochettino signed a new five-year deal lasting until 2023 worth £8.5million per year, so Manchester United will have to pay out to hire him to the job.
He's also turned down the job once before, when United instead hired Louis van Gaal, so he may take some persuading.
However, Pochettino has said that he wants to freshen up his squad in the transfer window. Spurs haven't spent very much money at all compared to close rivals since Pochettino took over. They didn't sign a single player in the summer window.
So if he's not given the funds to sign his key transfer targets again, he may start to look elsewhere.
The current Spurs manager has also been a target for Real Madrid, who have struck a much needed run of form under new manager Santiago Solari.
Right now, Pochettino's aims are to get his club into the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium, to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League, and secure a good position in the Premier League. It remains to be seen whether he'll still be with Spurs next season.

Mou won two trophies at United with a weaker team than he has now. Then he came second with a slightly better team. He requested improvements this season and the club hierarchy failed to get the players. Now the club is struggling! Can any new manager do better with the leaking backline like that? I doubt it.

He is a good manager when he is not in ManU. Once he go there and he can'y the player he want , he is not winning then you fans will start to complain again. same old stories will happen. let the fans try to be the manager, then they will know what is happening inside.

He is a good manager and would fit perfectly well at man united, no doubt about his man management of players. he hasn't won any trophy in england yet even with the calibre of squad he possess at tottenham?¿ dats my only doubts for hiring him..

It’s only in ManU that Mourinho needed players and were not approved by the board who don’t coach the team . Bring in Pep plus all the four team coaches to ManU and don’t sign their request players and see your results !!!!

Lots of great things was said abt mourino before he signed for manu special one the fans said. Doesnt make any difference to me if the managers are not supported fully. Change of manager back to square one start all over again!! Manu will just still be struggling again. Fans demand alot immediately hence its always going to be a hot seat good luck to him if he does take over.

i like MU but Chelsea and MU are same... changing managers.... don't give them enough support or time to get settled in. Look what arsenal do ....and emery is doing great there. If you buy a defensive minded manager ...then let him play in his style or you shouldn't bought him to club.
