Manchester City accused of irregularities in minor's singing

The father of Brazilian footballer Gabriel Fernando has accused Manchester City of trying to sing his son by creating a job vacancy for him.

The Sky Blues allegedly hired him as a scout and paid him around 1,120 euros per month from September 2011 to June 2012.

According to the Athletic, Manchester City organised a scouting course for the player's father who attended classes just twice.

Meanwhile, the Premier League prohibit clubs from offering any benefits in form of payment to any person close to a player or the footballer himself.

Manchester City, who denied the accusations, were already sanctioned by UEFA for failing to comply with the Financial Fair Play rules and by FIFA in 2019, for international transfers of underage players.

Almeida joined the Sky Blues in 2011 at the age of 14, being considered as one of the most promising youngsters of his generation.

He had previously tried his luck at Sporting CP and Tottenham Hotspur and even trained with Manchester City's seniors when he was just 15 years old.

After short spells at Corinthians, Atletico Paranaense, Internacional and Bragantino, he signed for a Brazilian Serie D side, Tupynambas.
