Pep Guardiola has ignited a fresh row with Jurgen Klopp about their respective schedules ahead of Manchester City's trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
After Reds boss Klopp said in his pre-match press conference: 'We haven't had a break, Man City had two weeks for Covid reasons... it's a tough year,' City manager Guardiola struck back quickly.
The Spaniard said: 'Jurgen has to see the calendar again... He made a mistake, it was three months off? Four months we had off? That's why we are in the top four...I'm surprised. I didn't think Jurgen was that kind of manager but maybe it was a misunderstanding from him.
'He knows it's not true, come on! Everybody in the PL knows no team has two weeks off. Maybe he did it for some other purpose, I didn't expect he would do that but maybe I'm wrong!'

joke of the century Klopp and any Liverpool fan who back him on this must be a stupid fool really.... so you dont know life is full of obstacles huh. with all due respect to you it's pretty obvious to everyone how injuries are getting its toll on your team as we got ours last season with No replacement for Kompany and lost our most valuable defender Laporte to injuries and we never complain no play mind games because it was what it is.... I think He is losing it for claiming we had two weeks off and still able to come with a 3 point at Stamford bridge with only 14 senior players and Not even a single striker. In reality, City had a seven-day break between their 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Boxing Day and a January 3 trip to Chelsea, where a squad heavily depleted by a raft of players being forced to self-isolate secured an impressive 3-1 win.
