Manchester City considering naming training pitch after Joe Hart

Manchester City could name one of their training pitches after Joe Hart as they attempt to mark the goalkeeper's 12-year stay at the Etihad.

Hart brought his time at City to an end on Tuesday when he completed a £3.5million move to Burnley on an initial two-year contract.

And the Premier League champions are keen to recognise the contribution he made during their transformation from mid-table side to title-winners.

According to The Times, club officials are weighing up whether to name a pitch at the City Football Academy after the former England No 1.

The City Football Academy is spread over 80 acres and accommodates all of City's teams across all ages and genders. There are 16 full pitches, one of which could soon be renamed to honour the long-serving Hart.

They bestowed the same honour on Yaya Toure in May of this year as the Ivorian left City after winning seven trophies across eight seasons in Manchester.

Hart won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups after joining from Shrewsbury back in 2006, but fell out of favour following the arrival of Pep Guardiola in 2016 and spent the last two seasons out on loan.

City told The Times they want to make a 'fitting and lasting tribute' to Hart and are also ready to celebrate the goalkeeper when he visits the Etihad with Sean Dyche's side in October.
