Man United interim boss Ralf Rangnick should be handed the tools to build the club based on his own philosophy, according to former England manager Steve McClaren.
The 63-year-old German's appointment at Old Trafford until the end of the season was confirmed on Monday, though work permit issues will prevent him from taking charge against Arsenal on Thursday.
The former RB Leipzig boss - whose gegenpressing style has had a significant impact on modern coaches like Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel - will remain at United for a further two years in a consultancy position after his time as interim boss.
But McClaren hopes United grant him the freedom to build the club from the outset to help create a DNA for the club for the remainder of the season and beyond, even if it means replacing current coaching staff or players.
'I hope United are clever and they'll allow him to build the club,' McClaren told talkSPORT. 'He's gone in there six months as a manager and he's a club builder.
'He goes on the three Cs of concept, creating a DNA – for the club a recognisable style of play with fast, attacking football and competence – getting in the right staff and right players, that's the key area.
'He's got his disciples in Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann, Jesse Marsch at RB Leipzig. They've all been very successful under him and he needs to deliver that from the present coaches or bring new ones in and bring the right players in.
'United have got cash and I hope they're clever in creating the DNA for the football club and building it beyond.'
Caretaker boss Michael Carrick will remain in charge for their next Premier League game after seeing his side battle to a point at leaders Chelsea on Sunday.
Jadon Sancho, 21, scored his second goal in a week and was at the heart of their energetic display, and believes Rangnick could help the club reach the next level if he is allowed to work with such young talents.
'Carrick has kind of produced that a little bit especially at Chelsea with the energy, the pressing,' McClaren added. 'They're quite able to do that with the players they've got, they're young and energetic.
'One thing I saw when researching Rangnick is that he loves young players and developing them. Man United have a lot of young players that need developing, they just need a style.
'Man United without a shadow of a doubt have the players to bring themselves forward.'

Bruno recently struggling to infuence in the game in his no.10 role...so under Ragnick he would shift to a new left mid position.....i hope he will adapt to that position........and probably Rashford and Ronaldo will he relieved from high pressing instead ragmick will use mid- pressing by utilising Bruno Sancho, vanda beek,fred....... Fred winning the ball...and the ball fall into the feet of bruno,he gives a through ball to Rashford and he finds Ronaldo and Ronaldo scores......This will be a common scene under Ralf... cant wait to see his game style

Bruno needs more penalties per game. It's the referees fault

What MU needs are more penalties and free kicks outside the opponents box. . 3 to 4 per game.

finally someone say something very important..to build...what McLaren wanted to say is to throw away that s....... of the arrogant to the bench he is too selfish and damage the club ...United got a big future with interesting players they can't rely in a selfish like him ..he isn't the future ...that is because Madrid..city and PSG said no to him not even cheap

all i want is Alex Ferguson to take his nose away from Man United. .. he made the club to struggle for almost a decade now. ..

What will he build in 6months and vacate the position for another football philosophy? 🤷🤷. Why not give him an option to extend further so as to continue the rebuilding process!!
how long did Thomas Tuchel take build Chelsea

Fred is average player
yeah he is average on the ball..but off the ball he is very great....and according to a report ..on average a player touch the ball for 4-5 minutes maximum.....so off the ball performance is very crucial in football......if Fred have a magnificent holding midfileder alongside him, then his flaws in passing can be minimised......but still replacing fred would be a great idea...but for the time being..he is very useful to united...

In my own opinion I would like Man United to allow Rangnick to take his managerial role @ Man Utd for years. This man is well tactical manager with massive experience. He will lift the spirit of the team. I'm feeling angry each time I watch Man Utd watch because this is not how we used to be😭

lies and guess strategies• Wait and see• Coaching strategic planning and implementations is intuitive approach not book work •

what will he built within intensive six months where there is no space for learning playing football every four to six days• This is a trying and error principles without future authority• Success in this process is by luck rather than anticipated principles that has no continuity• After six months, another coach will come• 18 months renewable contract would have been nice with hopeful strategic planning for future• If the coach is good while not give him better hope from the beginning rather than instability management•

Rangnick Is A Fierce.., No Nonsense Guy, Will Always Stick To His Beliefs And Way Of Having Things Done, Unlike Solskjaer Which Is Soft And Always A YES MAN Towards Woodclown 🤡.., The Board And Glazers.
