Manchester United are set to overhaul their underperforming squad in the summer transfer window and the club have been told who should be the first priority to sell
Alejandro Garnacho needs to stop moaning about his situation at Manchester United and go elsewhere to prove their struggles are not down to him. That’s the opinion of former United midfielder Gordon Strachan, who has urged the club to sell Garnacho at the earliest opportunity in the summer transfer window.
Garnacho is an unwilling participant on United’s post-season tour to Malaysia and Hong Kong and is desperate to leave the club following a miserable end to the season. United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham and will undergo a major squad overhaul in the coming months.
The club will listen to offers for any of their players and Mirror Football understands that Ruben Amorim has told Garnacho he doesn’t feature in his plans. It comes after Garnacho reacted furiously to being left on the bench for the Europa League final and was left out of the squad for United’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the season.
Garnacho admitted the season had been “s***” and hinted at a summer departure after the loss in Bilbao. He attracted interest from Chelsea and Napoli in January and the Italian club are expected to open talks with United over a transfer soon.
That would be a good move for all parties involved, according to ex-manager Strachan, who slammed Garnacho’s attitude. "Garnacho's got to go. I think he shows a lack of maturity and needs a real wake-up call. Manchester United is far too good of a club to listen to him whingeing and whining all the time,” he told Esports Insider.
"You wonder what the players at Manchester United are thinking about Alejandro Garnacho’s actions. He should be looking after his team-mates after they lost the Europa League final, not promoting himself with his comments.
"If he doesn’t want to be a team player then I think it’s best he just goes somewhere else. If the manager decides he's not picking you, you've got to think of the reason, and quite often that starts by looking at yourself.
HAVE YOUR SAY! Do you agree with Gordon Strachan? Should Alejandro Garnacho be sold? Comment below.
"In life the best thing to do when something isn't going your way, or you have issues, is to look at yourself and think whether it stems from you. It's rare that players take that stance anymore, and look at themselves before whining about their problems."
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna will reportedly meet United officials in the coming weeks to begin the negotiation process over Garnacho. The Italian champions saw a £40million bid rejected in January and have been told that United value the Argentina international at closer to £70m.
The club are hoping to net a decent transfer fee, given the 20-year-old is under contract until June 2028 and he contributed 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 games this season.

The person who is the boy idol is selfish, and always think that he is the best, so he copy everythings from his idol, how can your team lost, and you feel like I'm not part of the defeat, cause I didn't played,or started, Garnacho is a very good player, but he is very selfish like his self proclaimed goat.

Man U , after Sir Alex, are selling gifted players they couldn’t control. The new management take the easy way out of making a quick bucks by selling so many gifted players. When they play for other clubs and managers manage them well, they blossoms and came back and scores against man United. All these so called “self centred bad attitude players” are just names people put on them. There is perfectly nothing wrong when they just want to play. Good players always want to play and that’s nothing wrong. When they know they can do a good job and the manager made poor decision benching them , how would they feel? Of cos they woudl sulk and tats normal. You and I would sulk too if we we know we can play better but manager don’t play us. How many more talents are we going to sell? One of the reason the club is going downhill is we sold away all our talented players whom our coach couldn’t tame. Find a good coach who is able to tame these wild talented kids. Is like a good horseman when he is able to tame a wild horse, that horse is going to be special. Someone need to wake up and stop the management poor idea of selling their home grown talents. Garnacho or other future wild talents, they should stay. They should learn from Sir Alex how to manage young talents. Sir Alex did made some mistakes for showing he is the boss by selling some wild talents and I am sure he regretted his decision.

Let me put it this way, good build up play but was so wasteful so often. This means the issues were down to him because the main issue this season was the lack of a goal scorer or two. He could and should have been one of those so his challenge, whether he stays or goes, is to improve his end product

11 goals and 10 assists what else do you in such a under performing team. MOUNT and Coach are there ones that needs to leave
6 goals in 36 epl games and 1 goal in Europa league, 4 in the rest. This is his best season by stats 😂😂 go check McTom’s previous stats in United’s underperforming team and tell me why he should be whining when he’s not bringing back results. Couple with his comments means his teammate that started doesn’t deserve a chance at all like he’s got all season. Amad still had a better season even after going off over 3months through injury. No matter how wrong the coach is by selection, the attitude from the lad is very very wrong. No teammate will support him for that. A disrespect to Mount
