Diego Maradona will stay on as head coach of Gimnasia de La Plata after Gabriel Pellegrino was chosen as the club's president on Saturday, winning 60 percent of votes from the members of the board.
The former Napoli legend is delighted that Pellegrino has been appointed as club present.
"I would like to thank the club's members for showing their confidence in me by backing Pellegrino, and I'm sure that together we can take the team forward," Maradona told the newspaper El Dia.
Following the news, Maradona and Pellegrino will look to sign four new players to bolster Gimnasia's squad as they head into 2020, which will be crucial in order for the side from La Plata to avoid slipping into the Superliga Argentina's relegation zone as the season draws to a close.
