Marc Guehi saw a deadline day move to Liverpool collapse after Crystal Palace pulled the plug on a deal to sell the defender to the Premier League champions
Marc Guehi isn't losing sleep over his collapsed Liverpool move - and is instead concentrating on his displays with Crystal Palace. The England centre-back watched a switch to the Premier League giants crumble on deadline day this summer.
The Eagles had struck an agreement with their top-flight counterparts to offload their skipper, who's set to become a free agent next summer, for £35million plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
Guehi completed a medical with the Reds in London as the clock ticked down. However, Eagles chairman Steve Parish scrapped the transfer at the eleventh hour, leaving Guehi to remain in south London.
The defender subsequently joined up with England, netting his maiden international goal in the 5-0 thrashing of Serbia. He's now back at Palace and will lead the side against Sunderland on Saturday in his first appearance since the embarrassing transfer saga.
Writing in his programme notes ahead of the clash, he made it clear he's thrilled to link up with the club's fresh faces - and remains optimistic about the campaign ahead.
He said: "I'd like to welcome Yeremy (Pino), Jaydee (Canvot) and (Christantus) Uche to the team. They will all bring a high level of quality to the squad and I look forward to playing alongside them. Looking at today's game, we have another challenging task against a Sunderland team who have started the season very well.
"Our travelling support is always special to us, but now is a chance to show everyone once again that Selhurst Park is up there with the very best atmospheres in the Premier League. We'll al be giving everything to get another three points this afternoon.
"Make some noise, back the team and let's keep this fantastic run going." Guehi's boss Oliver Glasner also rubbished claims of a rift between himself and club chairman Parish following the collapsed move to Liverpool.
Glasner, whose team will look to maintain their impressive league record against Sunderland, insisted: "I never threatened to leave the club, never. I didn't have to threaten anybody.
"There were no bad tensions between the chairman and myself. It was really just a discussion about sports, and he decided against the money and for the sporting perspective of Crystal Palace. Big credit to the chairman."
Glasner was equally complimentary about Guehi, continuing: "It was clear, for him, that he stuck to his contract. It is credit to Marc that he never threatened to strike.
"He is a very honest person, that is why I was never worried about this situation. He will be our captain as long as he's here, because he's just such a great player and such a great personality."

This season the Reds must by all means beat Crystal Palace home and away with a very big margin and sign a different centre back to Marc Guei.

People do take kindness and loyalty as your weakness. He got that for his loyalty for the club. Yet He showed a gentleman character. Liverpool should absolutely go all in for him in future

Guehi is not worried at all. He knows he's young, talented, on the ascendency and in-demand from all over. He's merely biding his time🕕🕐🕑🕓🕔

he was supposed to make it the Isak way or Gykoreyes way because it seems nowadays it's the only way to get what you want because teams are ungrateful outside here you serve them well with all your heart when you want to go they start complicating things for you
