According to the latest report from Marca, Morocco hopes to invite Xavi to serve as the national team coach in preparation for the 2030 World Cup after appointing Iniesta as sporting director.

Morocco is reportedly continuing its growth plans in football. Following a fourth-place finish at the 2022 Qatar World Cup and a defeat in the Africa Cup of Nations final, their goal is to further strengthen their structure in preparation for the 2030 World Cup.

To this end, the Moroccan Football Federation is in talks with Andres Iniesta, hoping he will join as sporting director. Negotiations are ongoing, and no agreement has been reached yet. If finalized, Iniesta will lead a very ambitious "Atlas Lions" plan.

The Moroccan Football Federation has decided to make significant changes in preparation for the upcoming 2026 World Cup by dismissing Regraghi and replacing him with Mohamed Ouahbi as head coach. Former assistant coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Roma, and Tottenham Hotspur, João Sacramento, has also joined the Moroccan coaching staff.

In any case, Morocco is pursuing long-term planning, and Xavi is one of the candidates to succeed him as Morocco's head coach after the 2026 World Cup. Since leaving Barcelona two years ago, Xavi has been waiting for a strong offer to return to coaching.

The Moroccan Football Federation's offer could be very attractive, especially with Iniesta as technical director. However, they will first need to reach an agreement with Iniesta before considering signing a head coach.
