Enzo Maresca was impressed by the way his Chelsea players reacted to adversity after a 2-0 win over Everton ended their recent winless streak.
The Blues had not won their last four matches in all competitions, which included defeats to Leeds United and Atalanta.
But they ended their indifferent form at Stamford Bridge, with Cole Palmer's first goal since September putting them ahead. Having assisted that strike, right-back Malo Gusto then got Chelsea's second before half-time.
Everton did carry a threat, firing off 11 shots and amassing 1.03 expected goals (xG), though Chelsea fared better for both metrics with 17 attempts and 2.07 xG.
"I'm happy," Maresca told BBC Sport.
"It's important to win games after two or three where we didn't win. It's important for the players. We are happy.
"I think the reaction was good. The players want to win every game.
"Sometimes we struggle a little bit more, sometimes we are able to win the game. I think in this moment it was very important for the players to win the game."
Despite injuries biting at the heart of their defence, no side has kept more Premier League clean sheets than Chelsea this season, with eight.
Maresca hopes the current centre-half partnership of Trevor Chalobah and Wesley Fofana can continue their strong displays in the coming weeks, despite a busy schedule.
He said: "It's important they are both fit.
"It's important as well that the players behind them are ready when we need them."
David Moyes has now failed to win a league match at Stamford Bridge as a manager for the 21st time, equalling his most visits to a ground without a victory (also against Liverpool), but the Everton boss was encouraged by what he saw from his team.
He said to BBC Sport: "I thought there were some really good moments, we played really well today.
"We've played well away from home and today we played well. I know you can't say that when you lose 2-0, but today we did well.
"Maybe in the final third we needed it [a bit of luck], they were clinical in the one or two moments they got, we weren't as clinical when we got in on goal. That was the difference."

he is good coach at all but his problem is that he is not ready to be criticized or advised. he looks himself perfect in everything. his weakness only is in making substutions. but no way out as the true Chelsea fans let us give strong support to himπ€π€
This is good and stupid analysis at the same time, what shows he is not ready to be criticized or advised?

who is advising him u ? and talking about critiz is very stupid from any fans to start criticizing him when he lose game or start saying they should sack him.... football does not work like that you have to lose to get better and this Chelsea team are really in mature enough to start winning back to back they needed time to grow and also the manager too need time to grow.. I think as a fans when you lose give ur team support to give them courage to perform better in next game but no we fans are too impatient we always want quick quick success, they only support you when you win...

To me, Maresca is not the problem but the Chelsea board. They sign more average players and ask Maresca to work with them. Trust me, the coach will have his first eleven (xi) if the players are reduced to normal team number. He is trying to keep all players happy by the rotation system, the coach has done massive work π π let's support him and channel our frustration to the Chelsea board
bro you are still in the past,,there is nothing like first eleven at this moment you pick the first inform... now that James start in midfield does that mean caicedo should be bench because we have played with James 3 games in a row as midfielder... there should be strong six I'm not saying is not good but when you have allot of good players in the team you pick the most inform among them and sometimes you need to also rotate the team to give others playing time to develop infact does bench may latter be a better players than does you think should be first eleven but how will you know if you don't give them playing time ?

l am beginning to believe that Enzo Maresca is one of the best coaches in the premier league. Maresca needs to talk to the board to allow him sign a top striker, and here l mean top striker. And a reliable center back Then and only then, will Chelsea be able to compete with the best teams in Europe
