Manchester United signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5million, triggering the player's release clause during the summer transfer window, but he was happy at Molineux
Matheus Cunha has made clear that he was very happy at Wolverhampton Wanderers before signing for Manchester United during the summer transfer window. Ruben Amorim's side triggered the player's £62.5million release clause to agree a deal in early June.
The Brazilian starred for Wolves last season, scoring 17 goals across all competitions and assisting another six. However, he has yet to recapture that form in front of goal at Old Trafford, registering zero goal contributions so far since the move.
Cunha did, though, assist Vinicius Junior for the fifth in Brazil's 5-0 friendly win over South Korea during this international break. While away with his national team, the forward has given an interview to Globo Esporte.
Asked whether this summer's move makes fans see the player differently, Cunha said: "Without a doubt. It makes it easier for them to follow the games, too, right? (laughs) United's games are shown more on Brazilian television.
"I left the country very young, and being able to watch them more often during the week definitely connects me with them (the fans). United is a club with many Brazilian fans."
Cunha showed his true colours to Wolves fans, though, by insisting he did not push for a move away, despite leaving months on from signing a new contract.
He continued: "I was very happy at Wolves. The moment I arrived there, right after not having made it to the World Cup, the club was what I needed to remind me how great I had become within my possibilities, how caring the club was towards me.
"Helping in the best way possible was very important; they also helped me, and I was able to reciprocate. Among records and goals, what made me most proud was reciprocating the affection."
Speaking about his current situation, Cunha said: "Being here now in the national team, at United, is, without a doubt, a different level, a different moment as a player"
"I try as much as possible to adapt, to learn... It's only been two months, but it feels like I've been here for a long time because of the club's current situation, because I have to get results as quickly as possible, because I'm a signing... All of this helps a lot to find the adaptation faster and feel as good as possible in the national team."

You can play with mount on the same team he just needs to alter his wing backs, mount is good for the defensive part especially with Casemiro on,mount runs nonstop,he helps more the defense and the attacking side, learn to play with mount we win games

Every player needs love and good environment to thrive. the poor run of results hasn't helped himself either. Let's hope things turn around for him and the entire team

Hahaha Cunha is a beast of a Player with the enlightened players around him. Please don’t spread information on a player going to a sub par team in the EPL. Every game the poor Man United fans are on the verge of shitting their pants and blame someone. Whether it’s the coach, the defence, attack, Fernandez. The first game Cunha played he was on fire. Why the change ? He was all over passing, running making opportunities for scoring. What changed ? Someone told him to pipe it down.
