Arsenal have confirmed that Matteo Guendouzi has joined Olympique Marseille on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell at the Ligue 1 club.
The 23-year-old played all 55 games for Marseille last season as the club qualified for the Champions League, and the French club exercised the clause in the contract to make it a full-time deal.
'Everyone at Arsenal thanks Matteo for his contribution during his time with us and wish him all the best in this next chapter of his career,' the club website said.
The BBC have reported that Marseille have paid a fee of around £9million for the French midfielder.
Guendouzi signed for Arsenal in July 2018 for a fee of around £8m from Lorient, and he made 82 appearances for the Gunners up until June 2020.
However, his time in north London ground to a halt after a post-match altercation with Brighton's Neal Maupay during a 2-1 defeat, after which he never played for Arsenal again.
After heading on loan to Hertha Berlin later that year, he went to Marseille for the 2021-22 season to reinvigorate his playing career.
The Frenchman proved to be a good fit for Ligue 1 football, helping the club finish second behind PSG.
The announcement of his signing came on the same day Jorge Sampaoli quit as Marseille boss after the two sides disagreed on the club's future strategy.
However, the manager role is likely to be a tempting position for some candidates as the team are in Champions League contention for the 2022-23 campaign.

the fee is ok man. they have been paying salary for that period. arsenal did not share the cost of paying salary while at loan. remember lukaku at inter Chelsea are going to pay a certain percent of lukaku's salary

selling guendouzi for only £9m simply means arteta and edu know nothing about football business,if Fabio viera worth €40m,veitinha €40m then Mateo guendouzi Worth €40m.
