Mauro Icardi 'edges closer to January transfer at PSG' after fallout with compatriot Lionel Messi

Mauro Icardi is edging closer to the exit at PSG after reported falling out with summer arrival Lionel Messi, according to reports.

Messi reportedly had a falling out with his compatriot in October as Icardi is under the impression his team-mate does not like him.

Icardi reportedly believed Messi's supposed dislike was the reason he had not been called up to the Argentina team in three years.

Messi's arrival in Paris last summer on a two-year contract reportedly changed the dynamic in the PSG dressing room and Icardi looks set to be the fallout guy, according to The Mirror.

Icardi has been linked with a move away from PSG ever since the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner joined the club.

The 28-year-old does not seem to feature in Mauricio Pochettino's future plans and the striker is reportedly open to the idea of leaving.

The Argentine could look to end his struggled at PSG after having his game-time reduced following Messi's arrival this summer.

Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are the first-choice front three at the Parc des Princes, meaning Icardi has often been a substitute when the aforementioned trio are fit.

Juventus are among the clubs credited with interest but they are yet to make an offer for the forward.

The Serie A side are said to be searching for a permanent fix after Alvaro Morata's loan spell comes to an end.

Manchester United are also said to be preparing a move for Icardi should Edinson Cavani depart in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

Cavani's future at Old Trafford has been a source of speculation, with the 34-year-old entering the final six months of his contract.
