Kylian Mbappe insists the future project at PSG will be crucial in deciding whether he stays at the club, with the Frenchman saying he wants to be part of a team which can win the Champions League.

The 22-year-old won the prize for Ligue 1's top goalscorer on Sunday with 27 goals, but PSG missed out on the French top-flight as Lille pipped them to the title on the final day.

Mbappe, who joined PSG from Monaco in 2017, has continuously been linked with a move to Real Madrid and the Premier League and with his contract expiring in 2022, the star striker outlined what he is expecting of the club in order to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes.

“Everyone knows how profoundly attached I am to the club. I have always been very thankful towards the president, my different coaches,' he told Canal Plus.

'What I want, is to win, feel like I am somewhere where I can win, where there is a solid project around me. The footballing project is essential. I want to feel like I am part of a team that is going to do something (in the Champions’ League).

'Then, up to us to show what we can do… We are talking with the club, we will see what happens.

'In any case, I have always been happy here and I have had 4 exceptional years here… We are very clear with the club.

'The club knows my relationship with it, this city, this country. We are going to do things in the way they should be done, in one way or another.”

Mbappe has won three Ligue 1 titles since arriving in the French capital, but is yet to taste success on the European stage having finished as a runner-up in the 2020 Champions League to Bayern Munich.

He did win some silverware under Mauricio Pochettino this season though, as PSG claimed the French Cup last week after a 2-0 victory against former side Monaco.
