Last year's winner Kylian Mbappe missed out on the final 5 nominees for the Golden Boy award.
Liverpool wing-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, Milan striker Patrick Cutrone, Roma winger Justin Kluivert and Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt are the top five contenders for the Golden Boy Award.
The trophy is given out every year to the young player most likely to blossom going forward, with previous winners including Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappé.
It is organised by Tuttosport, but decided by a panel of journalists all over the world and will be announced on December 17 in Turin’s iconic Mole Antonelliana.
There is also a public vote for a different people’s award.

Trent Alexander Arnold is the most deserved one. Liverpool's young talented right back. He is just twenty years. But he is the first choice right back of Liverpool. That just shows how good he is. I think it will go to de Ligt based mainly on Barca willing to pay so much for him, or sadly on Vinicius Jr due to his price tag. However, I’m voting for Cutrone. He stepped up as an 18 year old when Milan needed someone in his position most, and has kept his scoring form despite having his position taken up by Higuain (who has had to play alongside Cutrone in a 2 striker set up due to Cutrone’s superb form). But he won’t win it, because football is all about money now, and the player with the flashiest skills and loudest mouth gets the prize, while the humble servant to their club gets overlooked.

Think Vinicius Junior deserves it cos he proved himself in a low league and had the admiration of a team like Madrid which compels Perez to spend so much on him to bring him to the benabeau unlike Alexander Arnold who jumped straight to Liverpool from the Academy and play with fantastic players such as Van Diylk, Salla ,Mane ,Firmino and with their efforts secured a champions league final spot, Vinicius was even in the lime light when at flamingo but Arnold was only seen at Liverpool moreover Vinicius hasn't played more minutes as Arnold howbeit with the few minutes he's got he's able to display immense Talent and a promising balon d'or holder in the future
