Mbappe puts Liverpool on red alert with 'my turn to quit PSG' transfer comments

Kylian Mbappe has admitted his time will come to depart Paris Saint-Germain, with moves for the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi signalling a new era.

The French forward has six months remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 champions and speculation is rife over his next destination. Real Madrid would appear to be favourites for his signature with Liverpool also considered among the more likely destinations.

PSG have not given up hope of retaining the services of their prime asset however. Reports suggest that Mbappe has been offered a new contract worth €100million (£86.15m) per season.

The 25-year-old has scored 26 goals in 25 appearances to help send PSG eight points clear in Ligue 1 and through to the knockout stages of the Champions League. The forward is undoubtedly the standout star for the Parisian side but is now free to speak to non-French clubs over signing a pre-contract agreement

PSG's startling new contract offer is set to dwarf other offers Mbappe is likely to receive. Real Madrid's proposal is expected to be nearer to one third of the figure the French side are willing to stump up, being closer to €30m (£26.84m).

However, the Parisian side could still face a stiff test with the World Cup winner anticipating a departure in his career, perhaps even from Europe altogether. Mbappe plans to simply forge his own path.

Speaking to GQ, he said: "Many great players who have shaped the history of football have left Europe this summer and we are entering a new era. It’s become part of the cycle of this sport and at some point it will be my turn to leave. I’m not worried about these changes. I’m simply thinking about continuing my career and following my own path."

PSG believe that Mbappe remains central to their project however with club president Nasser Al Khelaifi asserting his player is the best in the world.

"Look, I am not trying to hide anything. I want Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG. He's the best player in the world and the best club for him is PSG," Al Khelaifi said on the Rothen s'enflamme RMC podcast earlier this month. "He is central to our project."

He added: "We have done a lot of things, some have worked more than others. We have made mistakes and this is normal. Now we have a young team, with French players, and we are not in a hurry, this is for the long-term."
