Kylian Mbappe's decision to sign a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain and turn down Real Madrid in the process has caused shockwaves around the world.
Many expected, including Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, that the 23-year-old would arrive at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but instead he will remain at the Parc des Princes.
As revealed by El Chiringuito host Josep Pedrerol, this is the message that Mbappe sent to Florentino Perez to confirm that he is staying at PSG.
"Mr Florentino Perez, I am informing you that I have decided to stay at PSG," Mbappe's message began.
"I want to thank you for the opportunity you have given me to play for Real Madrid, the club I have been a fan of since I was a child.
"I hope you will be understanding with my decision.
"Good luck in the Champions League final."
How long will Mbappe renew for?
According to the transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Mbappe has agreed a three-year contract extension at PSG.
Two of the casualties in the wake of the forward's decision to stay will be sporting director Leonardo and head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who are both expected to be dismissed.
