Bryan Mbeumo has joined Manchester United from Brentford in a £71million deal and the 25-year-old is looking forward to making his Old Trafford debut in the iconic No.7 shirt
Bryan Mbeumo cannot wait to play in front of Manchester United's “crazy” fans following his £71million move. Mbeumo also revealed the first football shirt he owned growing up was a United one with Cristiano Ronaldo's name and the iconic No.7 on the back.
Cameroon forward Mbeumo will take part in his first training session with his new United team-mates in Chicago on Wednesday, ahead of Saturday's pre-season opener against West Ham.
Mbeumo, 25, is relishing making his Old Trafford debut for United in front of 75,000 fans – having experienced the frenzied atmosphere there as an opposition player with Brentford.
“The fans are crazy, the stadium is amazing - everyone wants to play here,” said Mbeumo. “There's a lot of excitement and I'm ready for it. The manager seems really close to his players, with his mentality.
“It seems to be a really good group, the spirit is really important and I've only heard good things about the gaffer and the team. It's really important for me to create links as soon as possible with my team-mates, in and out of the pitch.
“Spirit is important and I want to be involved as soon as possible. My dream was to become a football player and play for one of the biggest teams in the world. When you're actually doing it, it's completely different and I'm just happy to be here."
Asked why he had always wanted to play for United, Mbeumo said: “My first top was a United one, with Ronaldo behind [on the back]. It's such a big club, one of the best clubs I could join.
“Representing my country at the biggest club is something I always wanted to do. I always wanted to play at the highest level. Now I just want to show what I can do.”
Mbeumo is United's third senior signing this summer after Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon and Mirror Football understands that Ruben Amorim wants to add a new striker and a new midfielder before the transfer window slams shut.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed just seven Premier League goals between them last season and Amorim wants a striker capable of scoring 20-plus goals in a campaign. He also admitted that midfield was an area of concern after a 0-0 draw with Leeds United in pre-season.
“The gaps between our sectors was sometimes too big,” Amorim said. “We have a lack of pace, especially in the middle of the park and you can feel it is hard to win and bring the ball. But we created chances.”

Brentford really sold a 42 year old man to Manchester United… And told them he’s 24. If Mbeumo is 24, then I’m still in nursery school. 😆 🤣 😂

the problem is that Garnacho is not ready to play as a wing back but this looks really good and strong especially the way you drafted mount into the team .
