In an interview with Sport, Messi discussed the topic of the 2026 World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Looking ahead, the World Cup is just around the corner, and I imagine everyone is feeling rather excited.
Messi: Yes, absolutely. This is a special World Cup. Representing your national team and competing in other major official tournaments is special in itself, particularly given the significance of the World Cup and the fact I've won it before. But, as I mentioned earlier, I don't want to be a burden on the team. I want to stay in good physical shape to ensure I can help the team and contribute. Our season differs from the European one. We'll have a pre-season, with several matches before the World Cup. We'll assess the situation daily to see if my physical condition is truly sufficient to reach the level I require for competition. Naturally, I recognise this is the World Cup โ it's unique, the largest tournament in the world. So I am excited, but I'll take it step by step.

Maturely speaking. No lies or deception or attempt to discredit anyone. No self absorption... Messi isn't only the GOAT but the role model who those who want to reach the top of their endeavour should follow. ...Achievements without character will always leave a question mark...

Someone will propose to his girlfriend if he wins but it's just an 8 game tournament ๐

he knows he's getting old and he knows he might not be at his best now. that is why he works hard to keep in shape so he doesn't become a burden to his team even though he's the one who's been lifting them up since he first stepped on the pitch. Truly a humble man. he's the greatest but doesn't call himself that.

"Naturally, I recognize this is the World Cup, it's unique, the largest tournament in the world. " When Pele, Maradona, Real Ronaldo, Zidane etc. won it, the World Cup was a 99 game tournament, when Messi won it, it became a 7 game tournament. Envy is a very dangerous blindfold!

Dear Leo, even if you're going to warm the bench for as long as Argentina last at the World Cup, you're not going to be a burden to the team. I fact, your mere presence in the team is a rare source of encouragement and inspiration to the entire squad. Besides, the entire football world wants to see you at the world cup. Without Messi, there's no world cup.

Children of nowadays will rather copy from an arrogant person and call it courage.
Very correct. The generation will see an insane person and call him bold and exciting. ๐
