In Argentina's final warm-up match before the World Cup, Argentina defeated Iceland 3-0. Messi, returning from injury, quickly scored after coming on as a substitute and later posted on social media to boost team morale.

In this match, Messi came on as a substitute in the 70th minute. After coming on, he completed a turn in midfield with his first touch and delivered a precise through ball, helping Lautaro get a one-on-one opportunity. Although Lautaro's chip shot against the goalkeeper went wide of the post, the referee awarded a penalty.

Subsequently, Messi personally converted the penalty, helping Argentina extend their lead to 2-0. This was also Messi's first goal since returning from injury.

After the match, Messi posted a photo on his personal Instagram and wrote: "We are more united than ever (Vamos mΓ‘s juntos que nunca)."

With this goal, Messi also set a record, becoming the oldest goal scorer in the history of the Argentine national team.

With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Argentina concluded all their warm-up matches with a 3-0 victory, and the timely return and goal of captain Messi undoubtedly injected more confidence into the reigning champions.
