FIFA have officially unveiled the nominees for The 2019 Best FIFA Men's Player award, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi included in a ten-man shortlist.

DETAILS FOR THE BEST FIFA MEN'S PLAYER AWARD
The Best FIFA Men's Player is an association football award presented annually by the sport's governing body, FIFA, to the world's best men's player.
The award is aimed at reviving the FIFA World Player of the Year, which was merged with France Football 's Ballon d'Or in 2010 to become the FIFA Ballon d'Or in a six-year partnership.
Luka Modric was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018 in London, succeeding Cristiano Ronaldo who claimed the first two editions of the award in 2016 and 2017.
The much-vaunted pair join Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, Kaka, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho in being voted the world's best footballer in recent history.
All award winners will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Milan on 23 September.

Well from a standard point of view ....Van dijk was pretty great this season,had good stat but doesn't deserve the award, Messi was very good this season...He amaze us this season with his performance ,Scoring amazing goal giving incredible assist...He was far above the rest in terms of performance although he didn't win the UCL and his exit was a nightmare in description but he was far from the rest...if Messi isn't given the award then it will be a big embarrassment to the whole body in charge of it....I have 80% assurance that most of the vote will be for messi...Ronaldo fans should better go kick Rocks cuz Ronaldo chances of winning it not only Sank ,countless perished with it...But I'm still wondering how the hell they left Bernardo Silva out of it..

how come van dijk won the PFA player of the year award and didnt win the league but everyone saying messi shouldn't win the balon dor because he didnt win the champs league? this is individual performance award and messi performance were out of this world if you watch his games they breathtaking. van dijk is the best defender in the world but to be classed as a best player in the world you have to be the best at everything and everyone which is messi,best passer best dribbler best shooter and goal scorer. all van dijk has to do is defend. attackers have to score assist defend press too which messi did and scored highest in la liga and champs league. it's no question messi deserves the balon dor.
