Brazilian footballer Liliu continues to lead the way in the Golden Boot points chart with his 31 goals for Nomme Kalju, but European football's big names are starting to close in on top spot.
Behind Liliu is Zakaria Beglarishvili, Paulinho, and League of Ireland side Dundalk's Patrick Hoban.
Then comes Lionel Messi with 28 points from his 14 goals, with those above him handicapped by the leagues in which they play, as their goals only count for one point each, though Baglarishvili earns 1.5 points per goal.
Of the big favourites, Kylian Mbappe is tenth with 24 points, while Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paco Alcacer - the leading Spaniard - have 22 points.
The scoring system awards two points per goal to players in England, Spain, Italy, France and Germany's top flights, while leagues in nations ranked from six to 22 in UEFA's rankings earn 1.5 points per goal.
Other leagues have just one point per goal.

Lionel Messi now scored... ...50+ goals in EIGHT of the last NINE years! Voted 5th in the Ballon d’Or though. Insane.

That's 50+ goals in eight of the last nine calendar years. Un-be-lie-vable.

Messi is obviously going to win golden boot.there's hardly anyone to challenge him @ this moment. Ronaldo left,Benzema suffers from inconsistency and the rest doesn't score in every match they play. the only persons who can challenge him are his fellow teammates; Suarez and Dembele, and even so I don't think they stand that much of a chance.

Playing for one club is called loyalty guys...What Barcelona did for Messi as a youth no other club would...deserting Barca is lik deserting is parents....and jus because CR7 had began to cause tension in the dressing room and was dissatisfied with the lack of respect he had to leave....the same way he will leave Juventus...ryt now it is all good, but his ego is always going to get the better of him, the club and the dressing room. Messi has maitained peace n respect and has no reason to want to go to another club. Players spoil their relationships with team mates and club executives and leave in the pretence that they are lookin for new challenges...Dont get me wrong Ronaldo is a better player than most...Messi has gone past being better than other players and has already past being the best to being the best of the best.....

Messi will keep on breaking records in La Liga and continue to amaze us. Not a hater here, but I wish he would step out of his comfort zone and take up a new challenge without the Barcelona shirt. To me C.Ronaldo remains the greatest above Messi simply because of this.
