Lionel Messi has handed a list of demands to Barcelona's president Joan Laporta as the Argentine looks to make a final decision on his future.
Barcelona's talisman seemed set to leave the club when his contract runs out in the summer, after last year's public fall-out with the Spanish side he has starred for since 2004.
But according to Eurosport, Messi is willing to consider signing a new contract at the Nou Camp and has presented his demands to new club Joan Laporta.
The 33-year-old's priority is strong business in the summer transfer window, with at least one marquee signing to ensure Barcelona make a statement of intent.
Messi's international team-mate and friend Sergio Aguero has been considered by Laporta, but it is believed that the president is now focusing on bringing Erling Haaland to the Nou Camp in the summer.
Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and father Alfie met with Laporta on Thursday in Barcelona in a two-hour meeting, but the Spanish side face competition from all of Europe's elite to secure the signature of the striker, who Borussia Dortmund have valued at £154m.
However, it is not just big signings that Messi has called for in his contract demands. Barcelona's star man is keen for the club to build around the young players coming through, and does not want their potential hampered by bringing in a host of new names.
The likes of Ansu Fati, Ilaix Moriba, and Pedri have all impressed when given the opportunity by Ronald Koeman, and Messi is keen to continue mentoring them and aiding their development.
Laporta and Messi enjoy a strong relationship, with the Spaniard also president at the club between 2003 and 2010, overseeing a period during which Barcelona won four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.
One of the key element's of Laporta's election campaign this time around was getting Messi to sign a new contract, and the player is keen that he has a direct line to the president and is kept informed of future plans should he remain at the club.
This desire for a constant line of communication also extends to Ronald Koeman, with Messi frustrated at the way previous managers were unapproachable and the tension this caused.
He wants this good relationship with his manager to be maintained, as well as more regular dialogue with Barcelona's technical secretary Roman Planes, who Messi hopes listens to his opinion and the views of other senior members of the dressing room.
The Argentine has already scored 31 goals this season, netting 12 times and assisting a further six in his last ten matches in all competitions.

The fact that Messi doesn't want Barcelona to bring in new names but build their team around the young promising players shows what a kind man he is....

No matter how good, prolific or great a player is, he is still a football player and not the coach, manager, technical secretary, nor president of a club. Occupants of these very sensitive positions in a club are elected or appointed due to their expertise to perform in those capacities. They are able to make the best decisions to advance the vision of the club without sentiment, fear nor favour. Without prejudice to the greatness of Lionel Messi, his expertise is on the field of play - the amazing things he can do with his magical feet and his mental sagacity. He should focus there, and not become a meddlesome interloper in the affairs of other branches of Football Club Barcelona.

A player is never bigger than his club but in the case of Barcelona, Leo Messi is obviously bigger than Barcelona, that's because Barcelona is a Small Team with big players... No🧢🧢 argue with yourself...

Juventus need to do complete overhauling BARCA has not learnt any good lesson from their past at all. Their failure and disappointment still lingers on Over reliance on Messi as the Messiah is not going to work. The other players in the team still belief that their best is not noticed and appreciated , Messi takes away all their glory , and without them too , Messi will be useless. Look at what is happening in Real Madrid , the Management bought Eden Hazad so expensively, thinking he might be a good replacement for CHRISTANO RONALDO, he as a flop. The best thing for Messi to do now is to quit the stage while the ovation is loudest, He must quit Barca and look for another great club to end his career , or else he will be shown the way out because he is getting older by the day.

being in the champions league doesn't make u a winner, he's got bad attitude. he's following the steps of God knows who??? because from the youthful days of Ronaldo and Messi, they only allow their talent to speak for them thus getting them to d level they are today
