Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are still defining this era of football. The struggle between the two to be at the top will go down in history and they may well be the two greatest players of all time.
Apart from trophies, the leadership they've both shown has been phenomenal, and while they're now playing in different countries there's still a battle ongoing to see who will end his career with the most goals.
Cristiano bagged his 700th on Friday night in his 973rd game, but the Argentine isn't far behind on 668. He's just 32 behind the Portuguese, but in considerably fewer games (823), and he's two years younger than the ex-Real Madrid star as well.
Logically, the 32-year-old Messi has the advantage, but it's impossible to know how much longer each will play for. The Juventus forward has already said he wants to play until he's 40 and his physique is phenomenal, despite closing in on 35.
Messi has suffered more with injuries, but he's well-accustomed to breaking records himself.
They're both impressive in that they do it against big rivals and on the biggest stages. They're freaks in front of goal.
Josef Biscan's 805 goals in 530 matches between 1928 and 1956 is football's highest tally and, in principle, it can be met by both, despite seeming impossible. But these two cannot be written off, not until they've hung up their boots.

The only difference between Messi and Ronaldo is that: 1) Messi is Messi 2) Ronaldo is Ronaldo with both anything can happen at any time.

It will depend on who plays longer. If Messi continues to play with Ronaldo stopping earlier then Messi will definitely score more. If Ronaldo continues with his good physique and Messi retires early then it's definitely Cr7 . If both of them continue, and maybe retire around the same time ,I think Ronaldo may still end up scoring more goals but the difference would be very small bcos I think Ronaldo has reduced his scoring ability. His #s for the whole year are reducing, and no one can argue if I said he may not score 50+ for this season. That's why Messi has bn cutting the gap lately ,though he himself (Messi) goals # for the season are slowly reducing. Having said that ,I don't think either of them will beat Josef Biscan's 805 goals. Ronaldo would need just abt 105. Assuming he score 40 per season that's almost 3 seasons. He would be around 37/38. Mmmmmm. Messi would need abt 140 goals . Assuming 40per season for him too , that's almost 4 seasons. He would be around 36/37. Mmmmmmmm. It's all possible. It will depend on their body form. But we have seen that sometimes when the body says "enough is enough" then there's nothing u can do abt that. I hope they score more goals though. Best of luck to both legends

Ofcourse Cristiano will finish with more goals but even if he score 1000 goals he won't be better than Ronaldo Nazario. Not even better than Messi lets forget about Ronaldo the GOAT.
