Inter Miami finished a grueling 2025 schedule on December 6 with the young club’s crowning triumph. The Herons lifted MLS Cup in the final game at Chase Stadium, clinching the trophy for the first time.

In 2024 a globetrotting preseason tour was criticized as a moneymaking ploy, taking the half-fit Miami squad to El Salvador, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Japan. This time around the schedule looks likely to be more limited, with fewer long-distance flights for players to contend with.
The Herons will need some preseason time to acclimatize to their new reality, with some major changes to the team that lifted MLS Cup less than a month ago. The retirements of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba will undoubtedly change the way that Miami play, depriving Messi of two of his most trusted teammates.
Miami have already moved to bring in reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Dayne St. Clair and have an open designated player spot that will almost certainly be used at some point in 2026. The upcoming season will be Miami’s first in their purpose-built Miami Freedom Park and the ambitious club will be eager to make a fast start in their new home.
