Mignolet takes a dig at Messi, Neymar & Mbappe after Champions League draw

Simon Mignolet insists he was barely tested as Paris Saint-Germain's all-star line-up failed to beat Club Bruges in the Champions League on Wednesday

Mauricio Pochettino's men took the lead on 15 minutes when Kylian Mbappe skinned Clinton Mata before squaring for Ander Herrera to sweep home.

However, the Belgian side equalised when Eduard Sobol's cross was fired home by Hans Vanaken via a deflection off Presnel Kimpembe to make it 1-1.

That was how it stayed as PSG enjoyed 64% possession but struggled to create chances as Mignolet told RMC Sport in quotes carried by Get French Football News: 'I didn't really have a lot of work to do, we played very well collectively.

'We didn't concede chances against a team with an incredible attack. You can't mark them one on one, they have so much quality to get past you.

'We tried to defend collectively to not leave them with any spaces. I made two or three saves, that weren’t that difficult.'

Mignolet left Liverpool in the summer of 2019 after six years at Anfield to join his current side and has won back-to-back league titles since.

Incredibly, the former Sunderland goalkeeper was voted 2019 Goalkeeper of the Year in his homeland after just four months and 18 appearances back in the Jupiler Pro League that yielded an incredible 12 clean sheets and saw the experienced stopper let in just seven goals.

PSG must now lick their wounds and return to domestic matters as they look to make it six wins from six in Ligue 1 this season by beating Lyon on Sunday at the Parc des Princes in a match that could see Lionel Messi make his full debut for Pochettino's side on French soil.
