Milan 0-2 Juventus: Ronaldo seals win while Higuain misses pen & sees red

Mario Mandzukic and Cristiano Ronaldo scored either side of half-time while Gonzalo Higuain was sent off in AC Milan's loss to Juventus.

The home side are awarded a penalty after the referee consults VAR after a number of protests. Milan launched a counter attack from their own box before the ball struck Benatia's hand and that stopped Higuain from having the chance to shoot.

Milan miss the penalty and Higuain is left distraught after missing the chance to score against his former side. The striker did not pick his spot too well and Szczesny was able to get his fingertips to the ball and touch it onto the post.

Ronaldo has made a positive start to the second half and he forces a save out Donnarumma after gliding into the box unchallenged. However, the former Manchester United man could not generate enough power on his shot.

Juventus win a free-kick after Ronaldo is blocked on the edge of the box. Dybala tries his best to curl it home with his left foot, but the post denies him.

Ronaldo opens up the midfield with a brilliant solo run and he reaches the edge of the box before shooting. However, Donnarumma is quickly down to his left to deny him.

Ronaldo fires Juventus into a two-goal lead after reacting quickly inside the box. Cancelo's original effort was palmed into Ronaldo's path by Donnarumma and the forward wasted no time and smashed the ball into the top corner.

Higuain goes into the book after throwing himself into the path of Benatia while the pair challenged in the air.

Higuain has said too much after being carded and the referee now sends him off. What a huge error from the Milan forward!

Gonzalo Higuain missed a penalty and was sent off in a nightmare meeting with Juventus as his woes cost AC Milan dear in a 2-0 loss at San Siro on Sunday.

Having overcome a back problem to start, Higuain - moved out on loan following Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in Turin - might have wished he skipped the visit of his parent club after Wojciech Szczesny denied him from the spot in the 41st minute.

The champions had already established an eighth-minute lead through Mario Mandzukic and made the result safe thanks to Ronaldo's sealer nine minutes from time.

An incensed Higuain then rounded out his personal horror show by reacting furiously to a booking as Juve bounced back from their midweek Champions League loss to Manchester United.
