Official news: Massimo Calvelli appointed CEO of Milan.

Official Announcement:

Milan is pleased to announce the appointment of Massimo Calvelli as the Club's Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Calvelli brings extensive international sports management experience to the club, with deep expertise in developing and growing sports organizations and leading global commercial platforms. In addition to his role as CEO of Milan, he will continue to serve as International CEO of RedBird Development Group and Operating Partner at RedBird Capital Partners. This appointment reflects RedBird Capital's unique development model, which combines long-term investment philosophy with operational management capabilities to accelerate strategic execution.

Gerry Cardinale, Founder and Managing Partner of RedBird Capital, said: "Since joining RedBird last year, Massimo has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and has driven the establishment of an organizational model that fully leverages talent, promotes collaboration, and professionalism. Massimo, along with RedBird Partner David Castenbaum, co-led our investment in Milan, and both report directly to me.

RedBird's development model typically involves our executives directly in the operations of our most important investments to ensure the highest level of strategic execution, especially during periods of change and innovation. Over the past year, Massimo has proven himself exceptionally capable in this role and has fully integrated into Milan.

His mission is clear: we want Milan to aim for victory in all aspects, rather than merely avoiding defeat, especially on the field. From today, the entire club organization will benefit from his full-time commitment, unwavering determination, and efficient execution style as he works to re-establish a winning culture and tradition of achievement at the club."

Massimo Calvelli said: "I approach this challenge with the utmost seriousness and a strong sense of urgency. I am taking on the responsibility of leading the club at a critical stage in its sporting development and at an important turning point for Italian football as a whole.

The mission Gerry has entrusted me with is clear: to re-establish a winning culture and tradition of achievement at Milan, both on and off the field, befitting the club's place in European football history and the expectations of over 600 million fans worldwide.

Over the past year, I have worked closely with various departments of the club's senior management team, gaining direct and in-depth understanding of the areas where the club needs improvement and innovation.

I am also very much looking forward to working closely with our head coach Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff. They have fully integrated into the club and are working in close alignment with the existing sports management team."

Prior to joining RedBird Capital, Calvelli served as CEO of the ATP from 2020 to 2024, leading men's professional tennis through a period of profound global transformation. Before that, he held several international management positions at Nike, Wilson Sporting Goods, and Amer Sports. Calvelli's career began as a professional athlete.
