Liverpool are facing increasing transfer speculation as pressure surrounds Arne Slot with the Reds enduring a growing injury list
Liverpool are in a crucial period in their season and under head coach Arne Slot after a problematic season for the defending Premier League champions. A run of 11 matches unbeaten has catapulted them into the driving seat in the race for top four and Champions League qualification, while they remain in contention to avoid the dreaded playoffs in the elite European competition.
The Reds host Burnley on Saturday (3pm kick-off) before back-to-back trips to Marseille and Bournemouth. They return home to face the Azerbaijan minnows Qarabag to begin a run of three consecutive clashes at Anfield with Newcastle United and Manchester City making the visit to Merseyside at the end of this month and beginning of February.
Injury problems have persisted for Liverpool and their issues worsened when it was confirmed that Conor Bradley was out for the rest of the season with a significant knee injury, which the Northern Ireland international has since undergone surgery on.
Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news surrounding the reigning Premier League champions.
Guehi prefers emerges amid Liverpool interest
Liverpool target Marc Guehi reportedly prefers to leave Crystal Palace in the summer.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Oliver Glasner's side are demanding between £35million and £40million for the England international this month as it provides the last opportunity to recoup some funds from the 25-year-old's successful stint at Selhurst Park.
Guehi is out of contract in the summer and saw his summer move to Anfield fall through after the South London club pulled the plug on the move.
There's still a lot to play for this season for the FA Cup holders, despite their shock exit to National League North side Macclesfield in the third round, with the UEFA Conference League knockout campaign on the horizon.
Plettenberg has claimed that Manchester City are considering launching a transfer offensive for Guehi in a bid to combat their own injury issues.
But Guehi is favouring a move which would see him see out his contract in the capital. Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are named as potential suitors.
Van de Ven could leave Tottenham
Micky van de Ven has emerged as a key player for Tottenham Hotspur, but the north London club could face a fight to keep the Dutchman.
Liverpool had been tentatively linked with the stopper prior to his Premier League move. But the 24-year-old has found his feet and become one of the top defenders in England's top-flight.
However, reports are emerging that the defender might be unhappy at Spurs.
They currently sit in the bottom half of the table with Thomas Frank under increasing pressure after an underwhelming start to his tenure that also saw them dumped out of the FA Cup in the third round by Aston Villa.
Caught Offside has claimed that Van de Ven is even dreaming of a move to Liverpool.
The Athletic reported earlier this week that the Reds were targeting their defence for further reinforcements in the coming transfer windows with Ibrahima Konate expected to leave at the end of the season, plus captain Virgil van Dijk who will be into the final 12 months of his contract in June.
Tsimikas' future comes under the spotlight
According to reports in Italy, Roma could sign a left-back with Kostas Tsimikas potentially returning to Liverpool.
The Greek international has made just 10 appearances for Roma since joining the Serie A side on loan after falling down the pecking order, in light of Milos Kerkez's arrival from Bournemouth in the summer.
Checco Casano of Rete Sport in Italy has reported could return to Liverpool with the Rome club looking for a replacement but their issue is finding the right player with Jaouen Hadjam among their potential candidates.
