MANCHESTER UNITED fans were seen walking out of the Etihad in the 70th MINUTE after seeing their team thumped by Manchester City.

The Red Devils faithful watched another horror display away from home as Phil Foden and an Erling Haaland brace put three goals past Altay Bayindir after 68 minutes.

And after Haaland 's second, many of the travelling support had seen enough and made their thoughts known by voting with their feet and leaving to beat the traffic.

And the away end was more than half empty in the final minutes of the game.

It took just 17 minutes for Pep Guardiola's side to break the deadlock through Foden scoring his seventh goal against United.

Jeremy Doku showed off a brilliant piece of skill to skip past a flat-footed Luke Shaw before managing to get a cross into the box where local lad Foden was waiting to nod home the opener.

The game remained 1-0 until the break, but it was City who came out the blocks flying as Haaland zoomed past Matthijs de Ligt and Shaw to then chip over Bayindir.

Haaland's second came as he ran through uncontested following a sloppy turnover from Harry Maguire, who was attempting to clean up a mess made by Manuel Ugarte and Shaw in the City half.

The Norwegian hotshot only had to roll the ball past Bayindir and into the bottom corner to put the cherry on top for City.

City went through the motions in the closing 20 minutes, with United unable to put the ball in the net with a superb Gianluigi Donnarumma making his titanic presence known on debut.

The result ensured City left with the bragging rights and the all-important three points.

And it was a performance and result former world champion boxer and City superfan Ricky Hatton, who tragically passed away at the age of 46, would have loved.

The Etihad paid a heartfelt tribute to the Mancunian following the news of his death this morning.

In terms of the league, City leapfrogged their rivals into the top half of the league, now finding themselves in eighth place and two points off the top four.

Meanwhile, United dropped down to 14th, now with as many games played as points won.
