Mistaken for Rodri, De Paul's social media comments section was flooded

On October 29, France Football officially announced at the Ballon d'Or ceremony that Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

Rodri himself does not have any social media accounts, which led some fans to mistakenly flood Rodrigo De Paul's social media to express support for Vinícius Júnior. Comments included statements like, "How dare you steal Vinícius’s Ballon d'Or," "Robbery," and "You don’t deserve the Ballon d'Or."

Rodrigo De Paul’s full name includes "Rodrigo," and his social media handle is “rodridepaul.” The similarity with Rodri’s name likely led some fans to confuse the two.

Notably, Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur also “innocently got caught in the crossfire,” as some fans posted messages supporting Vinícius on his social media as well.
