Luka Modric will present Leo Messi with the 2019 Ballon d'Or on Monday night.
The Real Madrid midfielder who won the prize last year accepted the invitation from France Football, the organisers of the award, to pass over the prestigious trophy to the Barcelona forward.
Putting club differences aside, Modric recognises the Argentine as his worthy successor and demonstrated his class with his presence in Paris for the ceremony.
Modric scooped all the major individual awards last year, starting with the UEFA Men's Player of the Year prize, followed by 'The Best' courtesy of FIFA and ending with the Ballon d'Or.
After a slow start to the season, partly hampered by injury, the Croatian has returned to top form in recent weeks for Real Madrid.

I just watched a clip of Messi’s interview at the presentation of some of his previous Ballon D’Or. He mentioned that he was informed that he was going to win the awards a few days before the ceremonies. Apparently the winners are informed ahead so they can prepare to attend and also prepare for their speech and interviews. It is sad fans are just wasting their time on this platform trading abuses whilst the winner already knows himself. You all should just stop all the abuses and wait for the final presentation. Whatever arguments you bring up will not change anything. After all you do not take part in the actual voting so why break your head over something you have no control. Let’s just enjoy the moment.
