Montpellier 1-4 PSG: Ramos nets hat-trick & Mayulu scores in Parisians' away win

Paris Saint-Germain followed up booking their place in the Champions League final with a thumping 4-1 win over Montpellier, with Goncalo Ramos netting a hat-trick.

Match Report

After their semi-final second-leg win over Arsenal, Luis Enrique made nine changes to his team, but it mattered little to the Ligue 1 champions, who cruised to victory on Saturday.

Indeed, their starting line-up had an average age of 21 years and 251 days old, the youngest ever PSG team in the French top-flight.

PSG had to wait until the 44th minute to take the lead at the Stade de la Mosson-Mondial 98, with Senny Mayulu rifling the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.

Ramos doubled the Parisiens' lead four minutes after the restart, placing the ball beyond Benjamin Lecomte from Ibrahim Mbaye's cross with the aid of a deflection.

The Portuguese forward grabbed his brace from the penalty spot in the 59th minute after Desire Doue was felled by Jordan Ferri inside the area.

Montpellier were given a glimmer of hope when Tanguy Coulibaly struck the ball into the bottom corner, but Ramos restored PSG's three-goal lead just over a minute later.

Ramos completed his hat-trick with a sensational finish, controlling Arnau Tenas' long ball forward before turning his man and rattling the ball in off the crossbar from distance.

Data Debrief: Ramos shines on landmark Ligue 1 outing

Ramos – who celebrated his 50th appearance in Ligue 1 – has been involved in 13 top-flight goals in 2024-25 (10 goals, three assists), surpassing his total from last season (11 goals, one assist). It was his first hat-trick in the top-flight (with Benfica or PSG).

In addition, Mayulu's goal, assisted by Warren Zaire-Emery, was the first time that two players born in 2006 or later combined for the same goal in Ligue 1.

Luis Enrique's team have now won their last 12 Ligue 1 matches against Montpellier, with the last game without a PSG win dating back to April 2019 (3-2 defeat). They have also scored four goals per game on average in this run.

For Montpellier, meanwhile, they have lost 25 of their 33 matches in Ligue 1 2024-25, a new record for defeats in an 18-team league. Zoumana Camara's side have also conceded 76 goals this season, a new record for them in a season in the top-flight.
