The Spaniard has accused his Liverpool boss of treating him unfairly following his return from injury, preferring to start his team-mate instead
Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno has spoken out against manager Jurgen Klopp after being dropped for Andy Robertson.
Moreno started last season as first-choice left-back despite midfielder James Milner having been preferred the season before and the signing of Robertson from Hull City.
However, an injury to the Spaniard opened the door for his Scottish counterpart and he excelled and is now an undisputed starter on the left of a dramatically improved defence that has shipped just seven goals in 19 Premier League games.
But despite the remarkable success of the current back-line, Moreno feels he should have been given more of an opportunity to reclaim his starting berth after returning from his injury.
"I didn't feel [the decision to stick with Robertson] well, I was injured giving my best for our team," Moreno told Ondacero.
"I disliked Klopp's decision because I was training but when I returned he only wanted Robertson.
"My relationship with Klopp hasn't changed but since this injury, I didn't have a meeting with him but our relationship is normal.
"I disliked the way that Klopp has treated me but I understand his situation that he can't change [Robertson] because the team is winning."
Despite his complaints, he insists that the atmosphere amongst the Reds squad is very good.
"The dressing room is very close, we are a family," he added.
He would not, however, go so far as to commit his future to Liverpool and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, he is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement next month.
Moreno claims a new contract has been offered to him but he has yet to sign it as he considers if his future is best served at a club who will offer him the regular, first-team football he craves.
He added: "Liverpool has proposed renewing me but no agreement has been reached, in January the market opens and we will see. To this day we have nothing closed neither with Liverpool nor with other clubs."

Moreno spoke his mind simple, and the fact here is that, he admited that he just came from injury and his team is winning this might be the cause of Klopp not using him, i don't see any bad treament from Klopp or Moreno admitting that he's badly treated not at all. We all know in every institutions missing few days is a set back and take some time to catch up or recover, football is played according to or through tactics, doing Moreno injury the coach had to replace him with another player to create new tactics which is been used presently, bringing him back will take time, 1. If we look at it on the other side too, Moreno need to be fully recovered before he can be used, likewise doing his training with the present teams, there are new tactics he need to adapt before his coach will start using him. 2. Moreno present replacer is doing fully will and there will be no way Klopp will bench his replacer when he's doing the right thing. My only advice to him is, Klopp still need him, this is why he's asking him to renew(sign/extend) his contract with the team. Therefore it's an great opportunity for him to remian on the team and work hard to gain his place back. My views.

I don't think it should be difficult to understand for Moreno. Moreno was given enough chances. As much good as he is going forward, that bad he is in defence. His mistakes cost Liverpool the Europa League final to Sevilla.Robertson started strong from the first chance he was given, has performed consistently and has developed into one of the best left backs of Europe..this is how professional football works.Moreno needs to suck up and go to a club where he can reconstruct his career. Klopp treats his players with utmost professionalism. I wonder what he would have been saying if he was working under a coach like Mourinho.🤔

Robertson is a much better player than this guy. What's he complaining about? He's forgotten how he cost us games when he was playing! He should just leave.

Klopp literally gave him chances to play and show his improvement. He even played Moreno in pre-season and Carabao Cup. Apart from the goal against Napoli, he was disappointing and way off the standard set by Robertson. Can’t forget Moreno getting absolutely DESTROYED by Hazard during that match. Even at peak fitness, Moreno displayed a lack of commitment on the pitch which is terrible to watch for a defender. Instead of complaining, he should have learnt from his teammates, just like the midfield industry in Liverpool. Klopp has already stated that he has no tolerance for players’ complaints, and that if they want to play they’ve got to work hard in trainings and matches whenever possible. (Wijnaldum and Lovren are prime examples)
