Morgan: Arsenal can still chase the “quadruple” when Tottenham relegates

The 0-2 defeat to Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday means that Arsenal have missed out on another title since the FA Cup in 2020, and the title drought continues.

However, die-hard Arsenal fan Piers Morgan believes that the quadruple is still possible, just in a different way.

The Gunners are still in contention for the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, so how will they complete the "quadruple"? According to Morgan, Arsenal can collect the "Big Four" as long as Tottenham Hotspur suffer an unprecedented Premier League relegation.

Morgan revealed on talkSPORT Breakfast that Arsenal fans in the Bobby Moore box at Wembley on Sunday's League Cup final erupted in cheers whenever Nottingham Forest broke Tottenham Hotspur's goal. He then made a passionate declaration that he hoped the North London rival would eventually be relegated.

"Every time Forest scored, there was a huge cheer in the Bobby Moore box," Morgan said.

"I've never seen Arsenal fans cheer so much for an opponent's goal."

"When Forest won the game 3-0, the whole box almost stood up and applauded."

"Obviously, my original dream of winning five titles has been dashed. Now we can only aim for four titles: Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, plus Tottenham Hotspur relegation. Gunners, this is still possible!"

"So let's unite, move forward together, and win together."

"Remember Winston Churchill's words: Let us go forward together. Never give up, we will eventually win!"

Arsenal still have a chance to win three titles.

Of these, Arsenal have the best chance of winning the Premier League. Arteta's team currently leads second-placed Manchester City by 9 points in the standings. However, if Manchester City win their game in hand, the gap will be narrowed to 6 points, and there are only 7 rounds left in the league.

The Gunners are aiming for their first Premier League title since the "invincible title" in the 2003/04 season. In the FA Cup, Arsenal have reached the quarter-finals and will face Championship side Southampton for a place in the semi-finals. Reaching the quarter-finals is Arsenal's best result in the FA Cup since winning the title in 2019/20. In the seasons since their last title, they have never gone beyond the fourth round of the FA Cup.

In the Champions League, Arsenal have also reached the quarter-finals and will play against Sporting Lisbon in a two-legged tie. The Gunners have never won the top European competition, although they reached the Europa League final in 2019, eventually losing to Chelsea. If Arsenal knock out Sporting Lisbon and reach the Champions League semi-finals for the second consecutive year, they could face Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.

However, even if they win one, two or even all three of these titles, the joy it brings to the Gunners fans may not be as great as seeing Tottenham Hotspur relegated with their own eyes. The last time Tottenham Hotspur were relegated in disgrace was in 1977, and it would be even more embarrassing if they were relegated again after nearly 50 years.

Will Tottenham Hotspur really be relegated?

Tudor's team is currently in 17th place with 30 points, only 1 point above 18th-placed West Ham. Tottenham Hotspur's remaining schedule is not optimistic either.

In their last seven league games of the season, three are against Premier League top-eight teams competing for UEFA match series qualification next season. They also have to face Leeds United, who are also relegation rivals.

The chances of Arsenal fans witnessing all four of these things come true are slim. But with Morgan's version of the "quadruple" still alive, Gunners fans can indulge in some fantasies.
