Jose Mourinho has spent a staggering £1.3billion on players during his managerial career - around £300million more than the second-ranked boss.
The Portuguese has never been afraid to splash the cash - whether at Chelsea, Real Madrid or Manchester United - and new research highlights just how much more he has spent than any other manager.
Carlo Ancelotti is the next highest in the list of big-spending managers but his outlay at the likes of AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real and Bayern Munich is £300m less than Mourinho at just shy of £1bn.
Oh My Goal have totalled up the expenditure of world football's leading managers and revealed some truly eye-watering sums.
But none compare to Mourinho, the current Tottenham boss, whose biggest purchase was the £89.3m return of Paul Pogba to Manchester United in the summer of 2016.
Mourinho has always demanded investment from club owners, with other noteworthy purchases including Romelu Lukaku for £75m and Fred for £53m during his time in charge at Old Trafford.
In two spells as Chelsea manager, the club signed strikers Andriy Shevchenko for £40m, Didier Drogba for £35m and Diego Costa for £34m.
And while Mourinho was in charge of Real Madrid, they signed Luka Modric for £31.5m and Angel Di Maria for £30m.
It only goes to highlight how ill-fitting Mourinho seems at Tottenham, a club who only spend money reluctantly under chairman Daniel Levy.
Italian boss Ancelotti, now in charge of Everton, comes in second in the list, with a career spend of around £1bn.
His biggest purchase was Welsh winger Gareth Bale for £85.3m during his time in charge of Real Madrid in 2013.
It was also on Ancelotti's watch that the Bernabeu club signed Colombian star James Rodriguez for £67m in the summer of 2014.
And when in charge of Chelsea, the club signed Spanish striker Fernando Torres from Premier League rivals Liverpool for £50m.
Ancelotti is roughly on a par with Pep Guardiola, the current Manchester City and former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach, who has also spent in the region of £1bn on players.
His biggest purchase actually turned out to be a flop - Zlatan Ibrahimovic moved from Inter Milan to Guardiola's Barcelona for £57m in 2009 with Samuel Eto'o going the other way, but lasted just one season.
Guardiola has certainly been unafraid to spend during his time as City boss, paying £60m for Riyad Mahrez, £58m for Aymeric Laporte, £52m for Benjamin Mendy and £50m for John Stones.
That has enabled him to continue a highly-successful career, with City winning back-to-back Premier League titles and a series of domestic cups under his management.
Manuel Pellegrini is fourth on the list with £921m of expenditure, of which a fair chunk was the then world record £80m that brought Cristiano Ronaldo from Man United to Real Madrid in 2009.
Massimiliano Allegri is responsible for £844m worth of spending with Ronaldo's £100m switch from Real to Juventus in the summer of 2018 comprising a fair proportion of that.
Arsene Wenger spent £767m during his career with Arsenal, putting him sixth on the list, ahead of Italians Roberto Mancini on £683m and Claudio Ranieri on £682m.
Rafa Benitez is ninth on £577m, while Unai Emery just makes the top 10 on £591m, though £200m of that was PSG's world-record signing of Neymar in 2017.
It is also noteworthy that four of those managers (Mourinho, Ancelotti, Ranieri and Benitez) have spent the money of Roman Abramovich at Chelsea.
And three of them (Guardiola, Pellegrini, Mancini) have had the wealth of Man City's Abu Dhabi investors to spend in the transfer market.

Saying Klopp is better than Mou and Pep is saying atletico is better than real and Barca because they have spent less money. I mean, come on Liverpool fans, atm he is the best but can't be compared to pep and mou

MOU only knows how to use talents, he is not someone like Wenger, Pep and Klopp to build talents that’s why he splashes cash. He knows how to buy expensive and fastest cars and keep winning the race. But sadly, with new generation of expensive and highly egoistic players his ego is not blending well and not winning.

Officially, Mou isn't the "Special one" anymore but rather the "Spending one"

Mourinho wanted to use Tottenham as a springboard for better clubs but it's already backfiring. He knew Levy never spends, and he knew he (Mou) very rarely succeeds without spending. We are very sure it is a marriage that will end in tears

Once upon a time at Chelsea. Jose Mourinho's mistakes are coming back to haunt Chelsea,These are unforgettable players who would have been making a difference right now at Chelsea.

Many coaches spend a lot of money on transfers. For example: Ancelotti, Pep, Mourinho ... But they have no results. Klopp takes cheap and turns him into an expensive player. Example: Firmino, Salah, Van Dijk, Mané, Aubameyang, Levandowski .....
