Mourinho gives the match ball to Spurs debutant Parrott after taking it from Son

Son Heung-Min may have grabbed the headlines with his stunning solo effort against Burnley, but it was youngster Troy Parrott who went home with the match ball after making his debut for the club.

The South Korean star scooped up the ball after the 5-0 win for Spurs and looked to  be keeping it after his heroics in the victory, only for his manager to take it off him and give it to Tottenham's new starlet.

Son looked in good spirits while Mourinho collected the ball from him, with the pair laughing as the Portuguese boss picks it up and walks towards Parrott.

He throws it to Republic of Ireland star Parrott before embracing the 17-year-old and giving him some words of encouragement after his first Premier League game for the club.

Talking through his decision, Mourinho told the media: 'It's the Premier League debut for a 17 year kid, so if he has the chance to have the ball for his debut.

'Sometimes [the match ball] is for the guy who has his hat trick but I think it has a bigger meaning for a 17-year-old boy.

'Last week he was playing in the UEFA Youth League with kids of his age. Today he played in the Premier League.

'He played for Tottenham in the Premier League, played for his country in a match in Dublin. I think amazing week for him.'

With the three points wrapped up, Mourinho sent Parrott on in the 85th minute, replacing Dele Alli to become the youngest star to appear in the Premier League so far this season and the youngest to play for Spurs since 2007.
