David De Gea to Real Madrid has become one of the most persistent transfer stories of modern times and Jose Mourinho has told his former club to look elsewhere in their search for a new goalkeeper.
Speaking ahead of Manchester United's Champions League game at home to Sevilla, the Portuguese coach maintained his confidence in keeping De Gea.
"I think he will stay," Mourinho told La Sexta on Monday evening.
"I don't know what Real Madrid's intentions are, but if I were them, I would think of another player."
While noting that he wasn't surprised by Paris Saint-Germain's defeat at the hands of Los Blancos, Mourinho recognised that his United side would find it tough to win the Champions League themselves this year.
"I don't think we are candidates to win the Champions League," he accepted.

I think it's a huge mind game being played by Mourinho here. Whiles he's saying it's going to be tough, he's at the same time preparing for any opponent he meets and let not his competitors be excited about this statement. For me I think that the rate at which United is improving is what we should be happy about and that means if the team adheres strictly to his instructions, they are capable of taking out any team especially if Matic and his rock solid midfield can intercept and launch quality attacks, I have no doubt United compete. Currently Mourinho is looking dangerous with his red team. Their confidence is soaring and are capable of anything especially mourinho who prepares particularly for opponents. Until now the way he minced Liverpool still surprises me and CL teams should watch the way he's disposing his opponents
