The Portuguese has overseen the Red Devils' worst start to a season in 29 years after defeats to Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham
Jose Mourinho has lost the confidence of the Manchester United board and is set to be sacked this weekend.
Senior United sources have told Mirror Sport he has reached the point of no return, with the axe ready to fall whatever the outcome of Saturday’s match against Newcastle.
Mourinho has alienated players, fans and staff at Old Trafford with his divisive approach in recent months, and those in charge of the club, led by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, have had enough.
The manager appeared resigned to his fate at an early-morning press conference yesterday where he was downcast and sullen.
United currently languish 10th in the Premier League, already nine points adrift of leaders Manchester City and are without a win in their last four games in all competitions.
The Reds were booed off after their drab 0-0 home draw to Valencia in midweek, which is said to have finally convinced the United hierarchy that a change is needed.
That came on the back of a 3-1 defeat at West Ham, which saw United legend Paul Scholes call for ‘Special One’ Mourinho to go.
Ex-Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is the favourite to succeed Mourinho, who is set to receive compensation of around £20million. Michael Carrick could be put in temporary charge.

for me I don't see sacking him now as a good idea. it might only make matters worst 1. any body coming in might not have a clear head too put good plans in place bcus of the way this are already 2. aside from the coach the players them self's should shoulder equal blame for not performing too par. 3. we won't even have time too find the right coach. every one I shouting zidane zidane! fine he is a very good coach. so also is mourinho infact morinho has achieved more than all the present coach's in the premier league presently put together, doh he is loosing it in some areas. 4. the haste might lead too an even worse scenerio all together but all the same the aim is to get better results MAN U is a team where average is not good enough.

people forget that each of this coaches have their own preferred coaching methods, tactics and philosophy. You know Mourinho buys to win and yet you gave him the job. You gave him a target to qualify for UCL, he delivered giving you 3 additional trophies same first season. You told him to make the top four next season, he did better by coming second. He made moves to move to PSG to replace departing Emery, you insisted he stay and gave him a new contract. He asked for two world class defenders only to challenge for the league this season, you didn't deliver. You forgot Pep was trophy less in EPL until he bought four defenders and two goal keepers in just a year. klopp spending over £130m in a defender and a keeper. Chelsea spending the entire arsenal transfer budget this season on a goal keeper excess of £70m. Insisting the coach use players he don't want to instead. Same bad Emery in PSG is now a genius in Arsenal, how?? is it not now clear to see that some players are having too much power favoring who pleases then and frustrating those that pressurize them? What also happened with Conte in Chelsea. Blame Ferguson for not leaving a strong squad before retiring. Blame your board for their poor management, analyses and understanding of the problem, blame Mourinho for not leaving Man U when he saw the cracks like Zidane did at Real Madrid. Blame you the fan for blaming only Mourinho the scape goat when it should have been Ferguson, The board and the players.

They'll sack Mourinho. Fine. But who will they sign as their next Manager? Zidane? As of he is a right fit for the team. No offence to the sheer ability of Zidane, but being the Manager of Real Madrid is way different than being the Manager of this Man United team. It would be a great great test for him as the amount of pressure on him to deliver from the word go would be humongous. Let us just hope that he doesn't headbutt this opportunity if it presents itself to him[Cheer][Cheer]. As for Mourinho, dude, get that 3rd season syndrome checked somewhere.

finally its about time some one else took the role of manager for mufc. I also would want pogba to leave as well , because he also was a piece this current dark cloud over the club . Former Manchester united man Michael Carrick says that Manchester should have signed Marco Reus during the winter transfer , As he was only interested in joining Manchester mourinho stopped him . Now if zidane takes over Raphael varane , bale will also consider a move to old Trafford . Meanwhile talks are relevant that trogan hazard has been in talks with ed Woodward in order to join Manchester united .
