Jose Mourinho has weighed in on Man United's decision to back Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United rounded off the 2024-25 season with a 2-0 win against Aston Villa, finishing a historically bad Premier League campaign in 15th place.
Despite their struggles - which also saw them lose the Europa League final against Tottenham - United appear to be sticking by under-fire Amorim.
Now, former United boss Mourinho has weighed in on the matter and has seemingly backed the decision to support his compatriot.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Mourinho said: 'From what I read the impact [of losing Europa League final] on Man United of course it is huge in the sense of how many years Man Utd is not involved in any European competition.
'But at the same time it looks like they are supporting Ruben. They are giving him time and conditions to go forward.'
'I've read some quotes from him [Amorim] saying that he is happy that he came and had already these six months,'
'When I went to Porto the same happened to me,' he said. 'I went in January [2002], I had a difficult six months. We were struggling even to qualify for UEFA Cup and then it happened, what happened.'
Amorim is well aware of the scrutiny that he and his side have been under in recent months and addressed the issue in front of fans after their final league game.
‘I want to apologise for this season,’ he told supporters in an on-pitch address.
‘I know you are really disappointed with me and with the team.
‘The second thing I want to say is thank you. We are very grateful for your support during the season, which I know was really bad.
‘It was really hard in many games, but now, for me, we have to make a choice – stay stuck in the past - because this season is in the past, it’s over.
‘We fight each other or we stick together and move forward. Six months ago, in my first three games in charge, with two victories and one draw, I said to you the storm is coming,
‘Today, after this disastrous season, I want to tell you the good days are coming.
‘If there is one club in the world that can overcome any situation, any disaster it is our club, Manchester United.’
Pressure will be on Amorim from the opening game of next season but he is not worried that he is under the microscope.

Amorim lacks the experience to rebuild MU. Amorim's 3-4-2-1 formation is not working.
his 343 system isn't working either so do we give him another season and maybe go into relegation. I am happy to give him another season if he will drop his Failed system.

Amorim makes his in stadium speech and i think for support but he is not willing to change his system but expects us to back a now tried failed and tested system. I think he is asking too much of us to go through this season again but we maybe fall into relegation. I also feel he must drop his system to give us more confidence and even i will back him. if he wants Not to change then I have No confidence and don't want to go through this again.
