Mundo: Dro's agent must know chasing big contracts is mortgaging his future

Dro-Fernández is highly likely to leave Barcelona during this winter transfer window, and according to Mundo Deportivo, his agent should understand that young players rushing to secure big contracts are essentially living off future earnings.

The report states that Barcelona has made only two changes to its first-team squad so far this winter: João Cancelo joined on loan, while Marc-André ter Stegen was loaned out to Girona free of charge until June.

Player movement from La Masia should normally be more frequent, yet to date, none of the previously rumored transfers have materialized. Dro, the brightest star in Barcelona’s youth academy, has decided to leave the club. With Fermín López in excellent form and Dani Olmo already well integrated into the team, the 18-year-old prodigy finds it extremely difficult to secure a spot in the first team.

If Paris Saint-Germain and the player ultimately jointly pay the €6 million release clause, Dro will join PSG. Some believe he might face similar playing-time challenges in Paris, and the player himself is surely taking this into account.

His agent surely understands that rushing to secure a big contract for a youth academy prospect often leads to living off future earnings.
