Musiala 'has a desire to play for another club' as Bayern close in on Kompany

One of Bayern Munich's key players is reportedly eyeing a move away from the club as they edge closer to appointing Vincent Kompany as their new manager.

Despite being relegated with Burnley and only winning five league games this season, Kompany has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.

Negotiations are currently taking place between Bayern and Burnley over a compensation fee, but Kompany could be presented with an early headache if he joins the German giants.

According to Marca reporter Carlos Carpio, Jamal Musiala has a desire to play for Real Madrid, with Carpio claiming on Twitch that would be the attacking midfielder's preferred next move.

Musiala, 21, has had an impressive season for Bayern despite the team ending the campaign trophyless, with the youngster registering 12 goals and eight assists across all competitions.

He joined Bayern as a 16-year-old in 2019, and has become a first team regular in recent years.

It would be a big blow for Bayern and Kompany if he were to leave, given that his peak years are likely to be ahead of him.

However, a saving grace for Bayern could be that Musiala still has two years left on his contract, meaning they could demand a sizeable fee that may be too much for Madrid to consider offering this summer.

Potential suitors could opt to make their move next year instead, when Musiala will have just 12 months remaining on his deal.

Bayern are expected to try to rebuild this summer after a disappointing season that saw them finish third in the Bundesliga, bringing to an end their domestic dominance.

They would likely still want Musiala in their team, but are also reportedly lining up a swoop for Manchester City's Jack Grealish.

Kompany could raid his former club for the £100m winger, after Grealish endured a frustrating campaign that saw him start just 10 league games for Pep Guardiola's team.
