Myles Lewis-Skelly is expected to sign a new contract at Arsenal this summer.

The 18-year-old only made his senior Gunners debut in September but ended the 2024-25 season as one of Mikel Arteta's top players.

Left back Lewis-Skelly, who scored on his England debut in a 2-0 win over Albania in March, has just one year left to run on his first professional contract, which he signed in October 2023.

His impressive breakout season for club and country has led to rumours of interest from Real Madrid.

However, Mail Sport understands that Arsenal are not worried about losing their prized starlet to the Bernabeu.

Gunners chiefs are believed to be confident that Lewis-Skelly will commit his long-term future to his current club before the start of next season.

His new deal will come with a significant increase in pay.

Lewis-Skelly featured in 39 first-team matches for Arsenal during his breakout season, including 23 in the Premier League.

He scored his first senior goal in February during a 5-1 win over Manchester City, before marking it by imitating Erling Haaland's signature celebration.

It was not a perfect campaign for Lewis-Skelly though. He was sent off twice, in defeats by Wolves and West Ham.

Lewis-Skelly's first red card was later rescinded upon appeal.

However, Arteta felt it necessary to sub him off to avoid the prospect of a third dismissal after he was shown a yellow card — one of six for the season — in Arsenal's 7-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in March.

Speaking after that thumping victory, Arteta said: 'I think it was quite clear that we had a liability there with the yellow card and the next action so it wasn't the moment to take any risk.

'We have learned from that experience managing the game for so long, especially with how important this competition is, so it is a lesson to learn for him for sure.

'We will support and help him. But the line is really thin in this sport and he needs to understand that.

'He is very intelligent, he is very demanding of himself. Straight away his reaction was like that, he is a perfectionist, he has got a great environment around him. And he is here to learn as well.'

Later in the season, Lewis-Skelly hailed Arteta as a 'genius' and added: 'His attention to detail is incredible.

'I love to learn, so learning from him and the way he handles and approaches the games... it's fascinating. There's so much I can take from him.'

Lewis-Skelly is expected to add to his tally of two England caps later this month, having been named in Thomas Tuchel's squad for the upcoming games against Andorra and Senegal.

He spent Sunday at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona as part of a team-bonding trip organised by Tuchel.
