The Nigeria Premier Football League has directed Plateau United to play all their remaining home fixtures at an alternative venue for the rest of the season due to security concerns in Plateau State.

NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye explained that the decision was taken to protect players, match officials, and visiting teams amid ongoing safety challenges in the region.

He noted that the timing is critical as the season approaches its final phase, where every result could significantly impact league standings.

While acknowledging the importance of competition, Elegbeleye stressed that the safety and welfare of all stakeholders must come first.

According to him, the league aims to ensure matches are played in secure and suitable environments that allow players to perform optimally, while expressing hope that normal conditions will soon return to Plateau State.

Plateau United are currently ninth on the table but remain close to the relegation zone, leaving little margin for error as the campaign nears its conclusion.
