Wayne Rooney has made a fine start to life in the MLS but it wasn't the Englishman's football that saw him hit the headlines this week.
DC United visited the New York Red Bulls over Monday night, eventually losing the game 1-0 thanks to a strike from Alejandro Romero.
However, the match was overshadowed by a banner that was put on display by the home side's supporters prior to kick-off.
The New York Red Bulls fans garnered plenty of attention with the banner prepared for Rooney before the game and it was pretty harsh.
'Bald eagles, an endangered species,' the banner read with an image ofRooney attached.
The 32-year-old has long been the subject of mocking over his hair, having had a hair transplant in 2011.
The former Everton and Manchester United star has made nine appearances so far in the MLS, contributing three goals and three assists.
