After completing training on June 8, local time in the United States, Japan international Nagatomo was interviewed by the Japan Football Association's official media.

Nagatomo: With so many fans cheering us on, my fighting spirit is also growing, and I can truly feel that the FIFA World Cup is approaching. I have trained in the United States before, but I have never seen such a lively scene, which shows the high expectations the outside world has for the Japanese team.

With the FIFA World Cup about to begin, we will further consolidate our teamwork and strive for the entire team to face our first opponent, the Netherlands, in the best possible condition.

I am personally very excited now, and it's a bit difficult to calm my emotions. I will adjust my mindset well next. This is my fifth FIFA World Cup in my career, and it's strange to say, the more I participate, the more excited I become.

In future matches, the entire team needs to show full vigor and momentum. I think what is most important now is to have the firm belief in challenging for the championship and not be complacent. I will also fully convey this determination both on and off the field.
