Germany led 2-0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Sunday but needed a late winner to overcome Netherlands following a fightback.
Match Events
2' CHANCE! Gnabry's shot saved by Cillessen
15' GOAL! Netherlands 0-1 Germany (Sane)
GOOOOOAAAALLL!!! NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY! He may not be a striker by trade, but Sane knows how to play this role and he has repaid his manager's faith by opening the scoring in Amsterdam with a fine finish across Cillessen. Kroos plays the ball in behind for Schulz and the left-sided cross falls nicely for Sane, who makes the most of a costly slip from De Ligt to rocket it into the far corner.
25' SAVE! Fine stop from Neuer
27' Great save from Neuer
34' GOAL! Netherlands 0-2 Germany (Gnabry)
GOOOOOAAALLL!!! NETHERLANDS 0-2 GERMANY! This is a special goal from Gnabry! Van Dijk does not close down the German attacker quickly enough, which proves costly as he cuts inside from the left and curls the ball past Cillessen from 18 yards. Far too casual from Van Dij..
40' Excellent save from Cillessen!
48' GOAL! Netherlands 1-2 Germany (De Ligt)
GOOOOOAAALLL!!! NETHERLANDS 1-2 GERMANY! De Ligt, at fault in the build-up to Germany's opening goal, gives his side a lifeline. The Netherlands make a mess of the corner, but it is only half-cleared by the visitors and Depay's flat delivery is glanced goalwards from the edge of the six-yard box by De Ligt, finding the inside of the net.
63' GOAL! Netherlands 2-2 Germany (Depay)
GOOOOOOAAALLL!!! NETHERLANDS 2-2 GERMANY! Depay drags the hosts back on level terms from two goals down - as was the case when these sides last met. Despite having two players on top of him, Depay refuses to give up the ball and manages to drag his shot away from Neuer into the bottom corner after being teed up by Wijnaldum. Terrible defending!
90' GOAL! Netherlands 2-3 Germany (Schulz)
GOOOOAAALLLL!!!!! NETHERLANDS 2-3 GERMANY! Unbelievable! Germany have not really looked interested in scoring in this second half, but Schulz has just snatched them all three points. Gundogan slots the ball through for fellow sub Reus, who cuts it back to Schulz 12 yards out. The midfielder's right-footed shot spins away from Cillessen for what will surely be the winner.

That's what Germany was lacking in wc18 which is to give preference to senior players. Now it is looking like pure germany with sane, gnabery, reus, kimmich, goretzka but I would like to see ter stegen also.

Oranje were aggressive and lucky to escape with one yellow card only. The game was quite even with Elf dominating the 1st half but were restrained much in the 2nd. Kehrer is visibly GER weakest link and not well positioned n quick enough to block NED attack from the left. Löw only applaudable move was not fielding Werner as tactically more physical play required up front. If Reus had been introduce earlier the game would tilt to Nationalmannschaft's way evidently. Overall it's probably the most exciting Euro Q game so far.

What a game! A series of goals. Congrats to Germany and congrats to Netherlands as well for putting up a show. The game was the best so far. Germany had so many difficult moments over a year but they are showing some good spirits now. They are fighting back for to retain their place as the kings of football.

Netherlands was gloomy during first half. Nothing was going as desired. Two great saves by Neuer disallowed Netherlands to proceed. However, things changed a lot during second half and Netherlands got oxygen. But last minute confidence upsets their calculation. Let us hope best from them during meeting at Germany.

Not usually a fan of qualifiers etc cos they tend to be boring but what a match, it was hard to tell who would win cos each team dominated a specific half with Germany dominating the 1st and Netherlands dominating the 2nd. Amazing game of football and I may have found another potential replacement for Hazard should Chelsea have a window. Memphis Depay surely has to be considered among potential replacements for Hazard, what a player. Even though the Netherlands lost, what a performance he put in... I believe he is ready to play for a big side and he is still only 25 years of age. If his attitude truly has matured them he is a good shout, either him or Pepe are great replacements.
